Norfund is looking for a Climate Advisor  

For a permanent position based in our Oslo office we are looking for an experienced Climate Advisor with a keen interest in investments and private sector development in developing countries to join Norfund’s Strategy & Communications department. It is key that you enjoy working independently as well as part of a team and can be both a resource and sounding board for other team members. The position reports to Director for climate and impact in the Strategy & Communications department.

Norfund’s Strategy & Communications department has a key role in strengthening Norfund as a center of excellence for profitable and sustainable investments in developing countries. The department’s areas of responsibility include understanding and measuring Norfund’s impact, climate, strategy development and support, stakeholder relations and communication.

Tasks and responsibilities:
This position will focus on implementation and further development of Norfund’s climate work. Key tasks will include:

  • Contribute to communications, including annual report and external events, as well as other tasks in the department when needed
  • Support investment teams with climate assessments (climate risk and Paris alignment)
  • Track and report greenhouse gas emissions and other climate relevant metrics, including to externals
  • Further develop Norfund’s climate tools and guidance
  • Support net zero strategy implementation
  • Conduct training and develop guidance materials 
  • Engage with external stakeholders

Qualifications:

The successful candidate has practical, business sector experience with climate assessments, is analytical and driven, with an ability to independently work on larger and smaller tasks. Specific qualifications for this position:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a strong academic record. Applicants with relevant experience combined with a Bachelor’s degree will also be assessed
  • Min. 3-5 years of relevant working experience, including climate related analysis or assessments – preferably from the corporate sector or consulting 
  • Excellent analytical and implementation skills – attention to detail and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong skills in data collection, accuracy and advanced use of spreadsheets
  • Ability to present complex issues in a simple and comprehensive way – excellent PowerPoint skills are required
  • Good communication skills – English fluency is a must, and good understanding of Norwegian is an advantage
  • Knowledge of development finance and insight into Norwegian and international climate and development policy is an advantage
